The Whitehouse

The Whitehouse sits atop the escarpment ridge line behind Byron Bay. The stark structure is constructed of masonry and concrete. The off form concrete being the star of the show softens the crisp bold lines. The extensive roof garden has been integrated into the external roof space on the first level. Shou Sugi Ban, also known as Yakisugi, derives from an ancient Japanese exterior cladding treatment used to preserve wood by charring it with fire. This technique has been used for the main entry door.
